Each spring, WPI IMGD students will show off their work at PAX East, one of the biggest video game conventions on the East Coast! Students whose projects are selected to showcase at PAX receive Exhibitor badges for a full day in exchange for a 2hr shift staffing the booth, and get to enjoy the convention and network with fellow game developers for the rest of the day.
WPI and MassDigi's PAX East booth(s) are historically organized and staffed by students, in collaboration with the IMGD Department and IGDA WPI.
From 2014 through 2025, the booth was run as part of an IQP
The IQP was initially advised by Mark Claypool, and subsequently by Dean O'Donnell from 2015 until his passing in 2022. In its last few years as an IQP, the project grew to support AlphaFest and ShowFest, and after 2022 was advised by Melissa Kagen in collaboration with Monty Sharma and Gillian Smith.
Starting in 2024, the MassDigi and WPI booths were merged into one combined booth
As of 2026, the booths are now organized by paid IMGD graduate students
